Dreamland opened in the summer of 2009 as owner, Oscar Meier's perfect venture into the world of independent business ownership. After many years working for others in both retail and wholesale, it was time to create Dreamland as a melting together of three of my passions.
The first is a love of animals big and small. Growing up on a dairy farm in Western Ontario exposed me to an abundance of four-legged creatures. Although dairy cows are production animals, on our farm they all had names we knew and personalities as well. I was taught at an early age that the best possible nutrition would keep the cows healthy and productive longer and this meant increased profit. That lesson has been invaluable over the years by using the knowledge both personally and in the lives of my companion animals.
I have always had a passion for creating things out of wood. The look of a finished piece of oak, the small of fresh cut pine, how it can be shaped and sanded into a harvest table or used to support a structure, all create a wonderful image. Due to that passion, Dreamland was fashioned to emulate the interior of an old style bank barn with beams, concrete floor and plank walls.
My last desire was to provide a retail environment that was organized and pleasant to shop in. A retail store exists for the customer and to that end I wanted people to enjoy the experience and be provided with customer ervice to the highest possible degree.
Dreamland exists to give you, the customer; options that can help you and your pet enjoy life to the fullest. It is home for Roxie, myself and our latest addition Stitches. We hope you come in for a visit, whether just to say hi or to shop, you're always welcome.
